Women in STEM

As a Transportation & Automotive Design major at the College for Creative Studies, I am an everyday advocate for encouraging young women and girls to pursue their passion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is only when our young women of today can flourish in these areas that we can start to tackle equality in male dominated fields in the future.

Alternative fuel sources, sustainable materials, evolving user interaction and technology are issues automotive designers are constantly researching and improving upon. All of that begins with advancing STEM programs for young girls.

General Motors ‘You Make a Difference Program’

I had the opportunity to join GM in their YM@D for phase 1, where current CCS students are teamed with GM designers to go into Detroit Public Schools. There we introduce middle and high school students to the automotive design field and mentor them through the program every week.
